Did you see the moon tonight? I did, and for a moment felt nothing but the thrill of perception. The clouds were sliding obscenely over her full face, stars sharp pinpricks through the dark felt of the sky. Orion was on his back and the trees had shed their winter stockigns to stand bare and bronze like oiled nudists under the summer sun of streetlamps. Everything was fireworks in barefoot-July. And maybe it was the new contact lenses, but everything felt clean, sharp, better than before because there was no before.
