Humor as a Coping Mechanism

Daaaamn, that last entry was angsty. Truth be told, as moody and obnoxious as my mother is, I find her behavior more amusing than anything else (although friends and family are horrified). How can I not laugh? Observe the following exchange:

*calling mom from friend's house*

Mom: (unusually chipper and friendly because, after all, I could be some stranger she needs to impress) Hello?

Me: Hi, it's me.

Mom: (voice dripping poison) Oh.

Me: I'm at John and Eric's. I'll be home in a half hour, forty-five minutes or so because I have class tonight.

Mom: Yeah, you have class if I decide to give you your keys.

Me: (keys hooked on belt loop) Um. Ok. Bye.
